Mission and Vision

Mission

Vision

To promote education as a vehicle for rural development

Values

The core values which guide all the activities under NRDF are as follows:

  • Inclusion of the poorest, and meaningful role to the poorest in all the processes.
  • Transparency and accountability of all processes and institutions.
  • Ownership and key role of the poor and their institutions in all stages – planning, implementation, and, monitoring.
  • Community self-reliance and self-dependence

Goals

To educate, engage and empower rural girls and boys
NRDF schools strive to create India’s future leaders, people who respect their rich, cultural heritage but are also ready to lead their community into the 21st century.

Unlike many schools in India which only teach through rote memorization, NRDF encourages students to think beyond the textbooks. Teachers promote social awareness and have students debate current events like dowry, pollution and gender roles. Older students also teach younger ones as classroom subject matter experts.
